God has made it clear that we are chosen people to remain different from the world. We can see this in the lives of the Israelites. They were given laws and commandments to separate them from other nations. Those people were asked to be a light for the Gentiles. God revealed himself before them.
Jesus also taught us that we should not follow the traditions and teachings of this world. We are to follow the guidelines of the Lord, who has called us to take in the eternal life. When we stay apart from this world, we prepare ourselves for heaven.
